With a focus on our forests
The UN’s General Assembly has declared 2011 to be the ”International Year of Forests”. The idea is for the whole world to come together around sustainable forestry, preservation of biological diversity and sustainable development of all types of forests.

At Kinnarps we agree with the UN’s General Assembly - the forest is important for both the environment and our well-being. Moreover, it is an important source of raw materials. In our case raw wood comprises a significant part of many of our products. We therefore also want to endorse responsible forestry. We have been cooperating for many years with the Forest Stewardship Council, FSC*, which promotes socially and environmentally responsible use of the world’s forests.

It has long been our desire to increase the proportion of FSC–certified material in our furniture and fittings, but it has been difficult to find this sort of wood in the market. During 2010 this urgent task was finally resolved and we succeeded in increasing the proportion of FSC wood by a total 11%. This makes us proud, but not really satisfied.

At Kinnarps we want more than this. We are consequently proceeding with our sustainability work at an undiminished pace and setting challenging new targets. Developments are progressing and you can read for yourself in this report how our work is proceeding. Our hope is that both you and the forest will benefit from our achievements.
